“I can’t imagine what it feels like to be in your head, I’m sure the cells in there are crying for help right now.”
I remember Princess saying that on a sunny but not-so-hot afternoon. I had rambled to her about different things, jumping between different thoughts during our conversation. So, I understand why she came to that conclusion.
And to be honest, I’m grateful sometimes that I get to feel deeply, think deeply. Because, tell me, how I tried to make sense out of fetching water from another hostel that’s really, really far from mine that Monday morning. (One day, we’ll talk about private universities and their lack of stable, running water.😭)
“I’m grateful that I get to fetch water because some people will do anything to have what I have now”- not the strength to fetch water, but the ability to walk, to even walk far distances like me.😭😂
So, I thank my brain most times for this superpower it has, when it isn’t about me overthinking if Solape meant that word or statement she said to me. That’s tiring.😭
So, dear brain, thank you for making me see life beyond myself.
Thank you for always being on alert, immediately converting any idea that sparks up inside you into something meaningful.
I’m humbled that you do most of the work, but let me take the glory, praises, and applause for how creative I am. Only if they knew.😔
Thank you for always bringing me new perspectives.
I’m happy that you take time to rest yourself when you sense that I won’t let you. Workaholic? You know, I doubt if I would have ever been called a writer without you. You are brilliant, extremely talented. I envy you sometimes.
Thank you for always taking mental notes when people tell me interesting things or even the little, supposedly ordinary information. Now, they think I’m cute and intentional.😭 'Omg, you remembered?!' They always say. So, thank you.
For dedicating your life to serve me, work for me. Thank you for always sacrificing the times you could have slept peacefully, to staying up all night with me, writing, reading, or even scrolling aimlessly on the internet.
Thank you for staying strong when I took Nescafé every day during exams.😭😂
Thank you for even volunteering to retain information from my school books whenever I read. Omo.
Thank you for being my partner in thinking in reflecting.
In the depth of our conversations, I’ve discovered a truth- that the greatest gift you’ve given to me, is the ability to see the world, and myself, with fresh eyes.
I’m reminded that life’s greatest gift are the often the ones within. So thank you, for being my partner on this journey.💕
And so, my dear brainnn, Here to more sleepless nights, Nescafé- fueled study sessions, many more late night conversations and yess creativity!🥂😂💕
My superstar!💕
I think this is the most positive letter to the brain I've read 😂
Love it. ❤️
I should probably thank my brain more too instead of always questioning it's sanity 🥲
This is cute 🤭
